Sancho's Tacos

Chorizo Breakfast Burrito

Something I love about Southern California is that no matter where you go, the Mexican is sure to be good. Not far from my apartment is a little taco shop, Sanchos Tacos, a taco joint I like to call a hole in the wall. I’d call it a dive, but honestly, it’s too nice and clean to officially be called a dive. I’m a huge fan.

No frills goodness

The simplicity of this place hits the mark. You walk up to the counter and place your order. Then you go outside and look for a place to sit at one of the picnic tables. When your order is ready, they shout your name, and you go pick up your food. Anything you order comes out in a paper-lined plastic basket.

Yummy in my tummy

The breakfast burritos are AMAZING. I always order the “Sawed Off,” which is fresh eggs, skillet potatoes, and cheddar jack wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla with your choice of meat: applewood smoked bacon, country sausage, chorizo or boneless chicken breast.

For my meat: Chorizo! No question

I add avocado.

I substitute pepperjack for the cheddar.

You get to choose from about five different types of salsa. I always pick the 515 sauce; it’s very spicy with a nice smoky/chipotle flavor

You’re not going to break the bank

It’s CHEAP. Tacos range from $2.99 for chicken to $5.45 for surf and turf. A breakfast burrito (which I easily get two meals out of) is $8.75.

Location, location, location

There are five locations spanning from Huntington Beach to Oceanside, CA. Near my apartment, Sanchos Tacos is right across the street from the beach. There’s a great view and usually a nice breeze. It’s also attached to one of my favorite coffee shops, which is great when I go in the morning.

You can’t usually go wrong with tacos, but at Sanchos, you always go right.
