Met Her At A Bar

The most memorable brunch I’ve ever had was in LA at a spot called “Met Her At A Bar.” When we arrived, it was PACKED. We had to wait about an hour behind 56 parties to get a table for three, but it was worth every minute. Pro tip: the restaurant doesn’t take reservations, but you can go onto Yelp and put your name on the waitlist ahead of time.

So many choices, so little time

There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try. After stalking on Yelp and Instagram, I narrowed my choices to:

The Flintstones Waffle: Strawberries, vanilla ice cream, fruity pebbles, and creme brulee sauce.

The Chorizo Toast: French baguette, chorizo, baby heirloom tomatoes, avocado mousse, poached eggs, and sweet chilis.

The Avocado Toast: Avocado, tomato, parmesan, and sourdough (with poached eggs added).

The Crispy French Toast: Cinnamon swirl brioche, creme brulee base, corn flakes, Nutella, and farmer's market berries.

Waffle Benedict: Poached eggs, ham, hollandaise sauce. Served with choice of potatoes or salad.

It was a tough call, mainly because the Crispy French Toast looked soooo good. We couldn’t order everything, so we ended up with the other four dishes…and a few rounds of mimosas, of course.

You say chorizo; I say toast

This dish hit all the right senses. Take a tasty baguette, add subtly spicy chorizo, and plop two poached eggs over easy on top. It’s the perfect pairing of flavors and textures: soft, spicy, crunchy, and warm.

Didn’t try, but rave reviews followed the…

Avocado toast and waffle benedict. My friends devoured them.

Meet the Flintstones

Waffle-style. This one was TO DIE FOR. It’s not just for the kids. The waffle was hot and crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It was covered in strawberries, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and fruity pebbles. The Fruity Pebble flavor was intense, which then gave way to the strawberries and cream. The contrast of hot and cold was nice, too.

We ate A LOT of food but didn’t leave feeling overly stuffed. Everything was pretty light and filling but in a good way.
