Daydream

Tucked away on a side street, in an industrial part of Newport Beach, is an unassuming little shop called Daydream. It’s a hybrid between a surf shop and a coffee shop—chill vibes, surf gear, vintage clothing, and carefully curated knick-knacks line the walls.

Come for the coffee

While I love browsing the store, the coffee is why you come here. The people behind the counter know how to sling a good cup of joe. There are times when I order an iced coffee, but at Daydream, I always get a hot one. My usual is an oat milk cappuccino; however, I also love trying their seasonal specials. My all-time favorite was a rose mint mocha—it was to die for. It was the perfect blend of refreshing mint with rich mocha and a very slight floral finish.

Partnership with Rye Goods

There’s another reason to stop by this coffee bar. They have a partnership with Rye Goods—an online bakery that supplies local shops with bread and pastries. While the bread is okay, the pastries are not to be missed. If they have their homemade “pop-tart,” get it. It’s amazing. It’s a perfectly golden puff pastry with a berry jam filling and berry frosting—YUUUUUM. I also love their apple hand pies. They are the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. The shop stocks different treats every day, so try your luck and see what the shop is offering (until sold out).

Woof

For the dog lovers out there, this place is pooch-friendly. I ALWAYS see doggo floofs when I’m there, and considering I travel too much for work to have my own, this always brightens my day.
